Vampire Academy Trailer

Two days ago The Vampire Academy: Blood Sister's trailer was finally released. I have watched it a ton of time and I am so excited about seeing it. However, the trailer makes the movie look kind of cheesy. Do not fret, the book is so much better, for those who have not read it yet (you totally should btw.) I hope you enjoy this brief trailer of this epic novel.

THE ONE COVER DRESS IDEAS

So we all know that The One's, the last part in The Selection trilogy, cover has yet to be released. So I came up with a few ideas of my own. I think that the dress should really be purple because that is the color of royalty, but it could also be white because one of the girls is going to be marrying the prince and they could all be getting fitted. I think I choose the pink because it shows innocence and America has that kind of character. The type of character that seems like she is completely oblivious to certain things, and that makes her seem perfect for the dress. The green I picked because I thought it looked pretty and would look good with a red head. The blue I just liked and it caught my eye. It also seems like something America would wear. 

Another good idea would be to have everybody in the different colors and have America be standing there in a purple to show that she still is the favorite. However, it is all how the book ends, if she doesn't end up becoming princess then she should not be in a white or purple unless everybody else is also.

Well that is my thoughts on the cover of the newest Selection novel.

School Arrives Again

Well, it is that time of year again. School is upon us and the time for reading is dwindling. I will still be posting frequently, but after next Wednesday, when school starts, it will be less often due to soccer, marching band, my regular high school classes, and my community college classes. I will attempt to post at least once a week, but if I don't please don't be mad at me.

Albert Camus's spare, locoing masterpiece about a Frenchman who murders an Arab in Algeria for having diagnosed, with a clarity almost scientific, that condition of reckless alien and spiritual exhaustion that characterized so much of the twentieth century.


What I Thought
This book was really good for a summer reading book. I thought that it was going to be really bad because it was written in the 1900's and by some boring french dude. Well let me just say I was completely wrong about that. Albert Camus's work was really good and it drew me in with in the first twenty pages. (Not saying much seeing as it is only 117 pages.)

There were some parts in this novel I just did not get. Like the christianity of the society. This novel was set in like the forties, so wouldn't the society still be very Christian influenced? Yet there is no mention of God, or church, or anything Christian, except the beginning and the end.

The mental stability of the main character is very questionable. It makes me think that the main character is a sociopath. (For those who do not know it is a person who has no human emotions, someone who can mimic the emotions.)


Overall I am giving this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

Son of Neptune

The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

Summery-
Percy can't remember who he is, but he does remember one thing from his past. Annabeth. On his way through the country Percy finds Camp Jupiter. A camp exactly like Camp Half-blood, but for Roman dimi-gods. When Percy arrives he meets Frank and Hazel, but only after he meets Juno (Hera's roman form.) When Percy is introduced to the camp nobody wants him in their group, that is until Hazel speaks up.

That night during their capture the flag type war game, Mars (Ares' roman form) shows up and finally claims Frank, who has been waiting four months to be claimed, and pronounces that a quest is in order.

Now along with Hazel and Frank, Percy must free Thantos, the god of Death, and help shut the gates of the underworld.


What I Thought-
I would say that this is one of Riordan's finest piece of works. The story is captivating and traveling with Percy again is refreshing.

One thing that got me was that up in Alaska Riordan made it seem like it was the North Pole, nothing but a huge floating land mass. Now please correct me if I am wrong but the first snow generally does not hit until September or October. And in July the days are still pretty long so wouldn't be more like a marsh at that point, and Riordan kind of puts that fact out there, but when Hazel talks about it it seem like those are there all year round. Now the only reason I question this is because there is a factual mistake in the first book. For those who do not know what I am talking about it is okay, I only just figured this out. Persephone should not have been in the underworld in the first book because it was during the summer solstice and she only stays there from the fall equinox to the spring equinox.

Other than that one thing the book was amazing, the depth of the characters and figuring out their back stories was like a field day for readers and very creative.

So before I give this book my stars I have a question for you dear readers. What book should I review next?

My overall loving of this book won over the factual doubt and this book earned a rare 5 out of 5 stars.
